Here is a test route I did with the tracking software and the N82. No photos this time so look forward to trying that integration, but biked from home to take my IATSE journeyman's test at the AFL-CIO building in Austin. In a strange twist of fates, I am participating in a crazy travel project sponsored by Nokia NSeries/WOMWorld, and being a beta-user of their N82 GPS enabled phone and tracking software (trip starts late Feb.). This is a screenshot of my profile on the tracking web app. Once the trip starts anyone can track my progress and view photos I take along the way through my profile on this portal (among other places I'll be posting media). More news about this project later.

A participation based workshop on kinetic photography, the notorious Camera Toss technique, and the general creative process and thinking.  Hosted by Ryan Gallagher, facilitated by Lorenzo "Lugo" Guasti for the Festival della Creativita (Florence Italy Oct 25th-28th).

Ryan Gallgher è uno dei più famosi fotografi al mondo per quanto riguarda la fotografia cinetica e la fotografia derivata dal lancio della macchina fotografica (camera toss). Ha un sito personale e un blog molto frequentato e contenente centinaia di fantastiche foto fatte con questa tecnica. Grazia alla collaborazione tra Ryan e Lorenzo “logu” Guasti, direttore di Digiarte, si è concretizzata la possibilità di inviare Ryan a Firenze per un Workshop dove ci possa spiegare le sue tecniche. Il Festival della Creatività è senz’altro la location migliore per un evento del genere dal momento che l’attività di Ryan nasce da un istinto creativo indiscutibile: chi di noi si sognerebbe di lanciare la macchina fotografica per vederne il risultato? Pochi..

Saranno organizzati uno/due workshop all’interno del Festival per circa 20 persone a sessione.

E’ necessario che gli iscritti portino la loro macchina fotografica digitale compatta (Ryan assicura che non si romperà) e se possibile il loro portatile per eseguire la post-produzione con Photoshop o un altro programma di foto ritocco.

Il workshop è dunque destinato a persone che abbiano già una certa dimestichezza con la fotografia e con il computer. Nel caso di soprannumero saranno fatte delle selezione per decidere chi potrà partecipare agli eventi.

Language of instruction:
English comprehension recommended, but some assistants may be able to provide some instruction translation and tutorial.

I'm in the "a+b=ba, art + blog = blogart" component of NewMediaFest2007 via JavaMuseum, and also one of the interviewed artists for JIP.  But they are still looking for more NetArt for the festival... deadline Oct. 31st!

starting in November 2007 on occasion of NewMediaFest2007
www.newmediafest.org

In this framework, the first of these features will become the third exhibition component
besides the shows  -"Seven Ways for Saying Internet with Net Art"
curated by Elena Julia Rossi (Rome), who is, among others, also responsable for the netart shows at
MAXXI - National Museum of 21st Century Rome/Italy -
and  "a+b=ba? art +blog=blogart?" curated by Wilfried Agricola de Cologne.

JavaMuseum, founded in 2000 as a virtual museum,
is one of the relevant platforms for Internet based art on the net.
Under the direction of Wilfried Agricola de Cologne, JavaMuseum realised between
2001 and 2005 18 showcases and competitions of netart in a global context and is hosting
a comprehensive collection of netart from the years 2000-2004 including more than 350 artists.

In 2006 and 2007, JavaMuseum was undergoing a restructuration phase and launched
JIP - JavaMuseum Interview Project - http://jip.javamuseum.org, which will contain more than 100
interviews by professionals in the field of art and New Media. after its relaunch in November 2007.

JavaMuseum is looking for netart projects, which are completed after 1 January 2004
and not part of the JavaMuseum, yet, max. 5 project proposals can be submitted.

Although the motivations and ultimate direction of the ban are unclear, the immediate result is amazing!  A city nearly as large as New York with next to no outdoor advertising.  Considering it's also a city I know to be famous for it's art, music, street art, graffiti, designers, and new media folks... sounds like heaven to me.  read more
